Head Coach/Quarterbacks Coach Coach Cook begins his fourth year at Kell as the Head Football Coach. The Longhorns are coming off of their best season in school history in 2010. The Longhorns completed an undefeated regular season and their first region championship. The Longhorns advanced to the third round of the state playoffs and ended the season with the #5 Ranking in AAAA football. For these accomplishments, many accolades came the Longhorns way in 2010. The Longhorns were named the team of the year by both the Marietta Daily Journal and the Cobb County Touchdown Club. Coach Cook was named the Coach of the Year by both the Marietta Daily Journal and the Cobb County Touchdown Club as well. Many players earned ALL STATE honors and Brian Randolph was named to the PARADE ALL AMERICAN TEAM. Coach Cook and the 2010 senior class concluded a three year run for the Longhorns that included back to back to back state playoff appearances. During the last three years at Kell, the Longhorns have also accumulated a 26-9 record (14-3 at home) and have won 16 regular season games in a row and 18 of their last 20 overall. In 2008, Cook led Kell to an 8-2 regular season record. Kell also made the state playoffs in 2008 for only the second time in school history. For these accomplishments, Coach Cook was recognized by the North Cobb Rotary Club as the Cobb County Football Coach of the Year for 2008. In 2009, Coach Cook led the Longhorns to a 6-5 finish and back to back state playoff appearances for the first time in school history. As a result, he was awarded the Corky Kell Excellence in Coaching Award given by the Cobb County Touchdown Club. Coach Cook was born in Marietta in 1972. He played football and basketball at Etowah High School in Woodstock, Georgia and graduated in 1990. He then graduated from the University of Georgia in 1995 with a degree in History. He returned to UGA and received a degree in Health and Physical Education in 1998. Coach Cook completed his Maters Degree in Educational Administration in 2004 and completed his Specialist Degree in Education Leadership in 2007. Coach Cook began his coaching career as an assistant at Clarke Central in 1997. He then spent three years at Cherokee High School (1998-2000) followed by four years at South Cobb High School (2001-2004), and one year at Kell as an assistant in 2005. Coach Cook then began his head coaching career in 2006 with the South Cobb Eagles and led them to a 7-4 record his first season as well as a trip to the state playoffs. Coach Cook spent two years as the head coach of the South Cobb Eagles before returning to Kell to become the 4th Head Coach for the Longhorns in 2008. Coach Cook is married to the former Courtney Christopher of Winder, GA. They have been married 11 years and they have two children. Chloe Mae is 8 and Cade Michael is 7. |
